Quick Answer
MW4 DMZ bosses are the lieutenants Bale, Gorani, The Doctor, Jin-Tae, Jang-ui, The Warden, Scavenger, Roze, Iskra and the Chemist, plus the commanders Colossus, Deathstalker and the Tank. Kill a lieutenant and exfil with its Dog Tag Case to collect the Boss Board reward. Complete your second DMZ Order to unlock the Boss Board at a physical station in the FOB, then buy lieutenant intel after completing the target's prerequisite challenges.
How do you find MW4 DMZ lieutenants?
Buy intel for a specific lieutenant at the FOB Boss Board, or activate the Upload Station at the top of a Lieutenant Hunt tower.
Bosses is the umbrella term here. Lieutenants are individual military targets such as Bale and Roze; commanders are the Colossus, Deathstalker and Tank. You can buy lieutenant intel, but commander intel cannot be purchased.
- Complete your second DMZ Order to open the Boss Board. If you're still working through that progression, follow MW4 DMZ missions.
- Complete the challenges that unlock your chosen lieutenant's intel during earlier deployments.
- Spend DMZ Cash on that intel, then deploy to hunt the target. The purchase lasts for one deployment.
- For a tower hunt, climb to the Upload Station and activate it. The MW4 DMZ hunt lieutenant tower page covers that route.
Tower targeting has two descriptions: the October 9, 2026 instructions specify the closest lieutenant to your squad; player accounts available on October 21, 2026 describe a random lieutenant. Buying a specific target's intel is the more direct choice when you're hunting one particular boss.
Where does each MW4 DMZ boss spawn?
Players report different locations for Bale, while the other lieutenants occupy named locations or, in the Scavenger's case, appear around defeated enemies.
Players report the following hunt locations. Treat them as search areas rather than a promise that every target will be there on every deployment. Orient your route with the MW4 DMZ Hajin map.
| Lieutenant | Search area | Main danger |
|---|---|---|
| Bale | Reported at Chang-san Air Base (Tank Depot) and at the Re-Education Center | Guards and smoke |
| Gorani | Mujin Pass | Ghillie suit and decoys |
| The Doctor | Mirae General Hospital | First-floor encounter |
| Jin-Tae | Heavenly Luck Casino | Armed NPC encounter |
| Jang-ui | Netshin Tech Complex, The Grid | Exploding robot dogs and laser turrets |
| The Warden | The Citadel | Riot shield and crowded corridors |
| Scavenger | Cheongun Village | Moves around; check near defeated enemies |
| Roze | Top of DBN Headquarters, The Grid | Sniper fire |
| Iskra | Cheonwang Peak Array summit | Mountain-top encounter |
| Chemist | Haneul Nuclear Reactor radiation zone | Red-zone exposure |
The Doctor is fought at Mirae General Hospital, with players reporting the encounter on the first floor. The Doctor's Command Office key is tied to the same hospital.
For the Scavenger, players suggest waiting near enemies you've killed or checking a Lieutenant Hunt tower. Gorani's decoys make target identification the job: find the real ghillie-suited enemy before spending your ammunition on copies.
At Jang-ui's complex, the surrounding AI, exploding robot dogs and laser turrets make the approach dangerous. Don't focus so hard on the boss that you ignore the building's defenses. For the Warden, remember your exit route through the prison's crowded corridors before committing to the shield-bearing target.
Players report being killed by a single sniper hit from Roze, so avoid giving her a clear shot at DBN headquarters; the MW4 DMZ Roze guide covers the approach. For the Chemist, bring a hazmat suit for the red radiation zone: players describe rapid gas-mask depletion there. The yellow zone is less damaging, but it is still radiation, so don't linger.
How do you beat the MW4 DMZ commanders?
Bring a launcher for the Tank, use sustained weapon fire against Deathstalker, and pack plenty of ammunition for the heavily armored Colossus.
Deathstalker is marked on screen at DBN Headquarters.
Shown at 01:25 in Incredilags’s video.Commanders are always present somewhere in the Exclusion Zone. They appear on your Tac Map when nearby, and your Team Leader warns you about their proximity. Players encounter them roaming Hajin and sometimes guarding lieutenants, so don't assume a lieutenant hunt will stay a single-boss fight.
| Commander | Fight preparation | Loot to collect |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Launcher | Front, rear and top loot points |
| Deathstalker | Weapon ammunition | Prototype RF module |
| Colossus | Heavy ammunition supply; drill charges | Military composite |
The Tank patrols Hajin. Players found launcher damage effective after ordinary guns, thermites and Semtex failed in their attempts. After destroying it, search all three loot points: front, back and top.
Deathstalker is a helicopter-sized autonomous drone with twin machinegun turrets. Players also describe rocket attacks and report bringing it down with ordinary weapons. Its reported crafting reward is the prototype RF module.
The Colossus is a seven-foot armored soldier carrying a Minigun firing depleted uranium rounds. Players recommend a large ammunition reserve and drill charges because of his health pool. Military composite is the reported crafting material reward.
What do MW4 DMZ bosses drop, and what should you extract?
Every lieutenant drops a Dog Tag Case, and extracting that case advances your Boss Board; commanders provide crafting ingredients when you kill them and extract.
Lieutenant kills also award DMZ Cash. Their iconic weapons have a chance to drop, and they may carry a key to a personal locked location. These are separate reasons to loot the body, but the case is what you need for Boss Board progress.
Players report these weapon rewards from individual lieutenant encounters:
| Lieutenant | Reported weapon reward |
|---|---|
| Gorani | Incisor marksman rifle blueprint |
| Jin-Tae | High Roller's Fortune ISO 9 Shade blueprint |
| Jang-ui | Hayon Burst assault rifle blueprint |
| The Warden | Incarcerator X-58 SMG blueprint |
| Scavenger | Orsis 8.6 marksman rifle |
| Roze | Kraken sniper blueprint |
| Iskra | Rare warlord shotgun |
| Chemist | Revenant marksman rifle blueprint |
Blueprint expectations also differ as of October 21, 2026: one description gives every lieutenant a unique blueprint; individual encounter accounts describe Bale, Scavenger and Iskra without special blueprints. Don't treat a weapon listing as a guaranteed blueprint drop.
Scavenger's bags can contain dog tags taken from defeated enemies. The Doctor is also described as dropping a command office key; match any locked-room key to its destination with MW4 DMZ keys.
Your first kill of a particular commander awards DMZ Cash, and extracting commander ingredients supports 3D Printer crafting. For lieutenants, a Dog Tag Case taken from another player still counts toward your Boss Board when you extract it.
Once you have the case, make exfil your next objective. A successful extraction turns the hunt into Boss Board progress; afterward, return to the FOB and choose your next target, or continue your MW4 DMZ missions.
