Quick Answer
Locate Bale with Lieutenant intel, then watch for his guards, tight room and smoke grenades. For your MW4 DMZ Bale hunt, location callouts differ between Chang-san Air Base Bunker's Tank Depot and the re-education center near the middle of Hajin, so check the active target before committing to either. After the kill, taking the Dog Tag Case broadcasts your position to other players, making a fast exfil the safer play.
Where Is Bale in DMZ?
Bale has competing location callouts: Chang-san Air Base, specifically its bunker's Tank Depot, and the re-education center near the middle of Hajin.
| Location callout | Date |
|---|---|
| Chang-san Air Base | October 5, 2026 |
| Air Base Bunker, Tank Depot | October 13, 2026 |
| Central re-education center | Undated; recorded October 21, 2026 |
Treat these as competing destinations, not a guaranteed spawn route. Before crossing the MW4 DMZ Hajin map, get intel on an active Lieutenant:
- Check the FOB Boss Board, where you can purchase Lieutenant intel.
- For a nearby active target's general location, climb a Lieutenant Hunt communications tower and use the terminal at the top. The target you find may be another Lieutenant.
- Check the target identity before committing to the fight. Watch for the Lieutenant Bale appearance message on your HUD.
Only one Lieutenant is active in each match, so Bale may simply not be the one on your map; use intel or the tower terminal to check before you travel.
The HUD announces Lieutenant Bale's appearance.

A UAV Tower and a Lieutenant Hunt tower serve different purposes. Downloading intel, activating a UAV Tower and using Paid Intel is one approach to Bale; you do not need to treat that sequence as a mandatory unlock chain.
How Do You Beat Bale in DMZ?
Study the room before engaging, account for the enemies around Bale, and avoid rushing into a cramped fight when smoke blocks your view.
Bale is a Lieutenant with increased durability. Players describe the surrounding enemies as the main difficulty, along with close quarters and his smoke grenades. That makes controlling the approach more useful than getting greedy for another burst on the boss.
- Look before you push. Check the surrounding enemies and the space you are entering before making contact.
- Deal with the pressure around him. Keep track of his guards while fighting Bale. Tunneling on the boss leaves those enemies free to keep shooting you.
- Respect the smoke. If you lose sight of him, pause the push and find your target again. Chasing blindly into the tight room gives you less room to react to the enemies inside.
The practical priority is a fight you can see and manage. You are facing Bale and his nearby enemies together, so judge a push by the whole room rather than the boss alone.
What Does Bale Drop, and Should You Take His Dog Tag?
A Lieutenant kill awards a weapon, DMZ XP and DMZ Cash; take the Dog Tag Case if you want Boss Board progress, then head for exfil.
Bale's token is identified after the Lieutenant fight.
Shown at 06:28 in Tridzo’s video.Bale's Dog Tag is listed as Legendary. His blueprint is Dreadnought, a Type 73 LMG blueprint; one player account describes the drop as a Type 73 LMG without a special blueprint.
Dreadnought is the machine gun shown in the reward display.
Shown at 07:05 in Tridzo’s video. The Dog Tag Case appears on every Operator's Tac Map, and picking it up broadcasts your position. A rival squad can turn your trip to exfil into another fight. If Boss Board progress is your goal, leave promptly with the Case instead of extending the loot run.
Leaving the Case behind still earns you the kill's XP and Cash. Lieutenants may also drop a key to a special loot room, so treat a key as a possible bonus.
Once you have the Case, your next destination is exfil. After the run, pick your next Lieutenant from the MW4 DMZ bosses page.
